Pucca was designed by Vooz Character Systems in January 2000. After some success as the flash animation series Pucca Funny Love, it was licensed for merchandising late in the middle of 2001. This gave it a firm foothold to further expand to a global market in 2002. In 2004 it had been turned into over 2000 different products in about 60 different countries, and by 2005 it had reached 2500 different products in 72 countries. In 2006 the animated series was released in North America on the Jetix television block of Toon Disney, and thus the franchise reached 3000 products in 100 countries. It was announced on the Vooz Character Systems site that a Pucca online bike-racing game was in development by Gravity (company) for their Stylia casual game portal.

Korean Gravity announced that their casual online game Pucca Racing has started closed beta testing in Thailand on Feb. 15th, 2008. They said that its operation in Thailand is just the first step for the overseas expansion of Pucca Racing.

"With the accumulation of oversea operation experience, we are able to accommodate more overseas users and provide better services," says a Gravity executive. "Beginning from Thailand, Pucca Racing will reach the whole Southeast Asian region and even the whole Europe."

Gravity's local partner Ini3 Digital will be responsible for the operation and management of Pucca Racing in Thailand. Pucca Racing is expected to move into open beta phase in Thailand on Feb. 18th, 2008. All the players will be allowed to participate in the open beta. And it is estimated that it will be commercially released in Thailand within the first half of 2008.

Pucca is very popular in Thailand. Many Pucca fans even have it painted on their motorcycles. And the Pucca culture will sure help the operation of Pucca Racing in Thailand. In addition, considering the hot weather in Thailand, Pucca Racing Thailand will have a blue background, which is expected to give players a cool feel, while the Korean version has a purple background. Many adjustments will be made to Pucca Racing in terms of game balance. And traditional Thai costume and Thai-style maps will be available to the gamers when the game is launched commercially.
